Founded in 1988, Griffon Associates is a construction management and general contracting firm specializing in multi-family and single-family properties. Griffon serves as a general contractor for all of Wilder Balter Partners’ developments and occasionally acts as principal. Griffon has substantial bonding capacity and its 2012-2013 construction volume exceeded $42,000,000.
In Long Island, Westchester and the Hudson Valley, Griffon has constructed more than 1,000 town homes, apartments and condominiums, with an aggregate construction cost of more than $230 million. Griffon has also built or rehabilitated more than 2,400 rental housing units, with an aggregate construction cost of more than $200 million.
Gary E. Friedland

Mr. Friedland has more than twenty years of experience in property management, development and affordable housing. Prior to joining Griffon Associates, he was executive vice president of a property management company with a 30,000-unit portfolio, specializing in affordable and government-assisted housing. Before entering the private sector, Mr. Friedland was one of New York State’s highest-ranking housing officials, serving as Assistant Commissioner of the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal for ten years. He has a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from Queens College of the City University of New York.
Chief Operating Officer
With twenty-five years of expertise in the construction industry, Mr. Scirbona oversees business operations for the Griffon team, including pre-construction planning, estimating, buyout and overseeing the warranty function. Upon joining the company, he spearheaded the development and implementation of a centralized purchasing and estimating division and instituted a variety of other advancements, including the use of optimum value engineering (OVE), the installation of Timberline/Builder MT databases and more. Previously, Mr. Scirbona served as estimator and purchaser for Ginsburg Development, and he was proprietor of a successful mechanical contracting company.
